Kesselman Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine

Acupuncture

How does acupuncture work?

Kesselman Acupuncture treats your health conditions by stimulating “acu-points” found at specific locations on the surface of the body. Your acupuncturist inserts very thin needles through the skin to produce physiological effects.  Stimulation of the appropriate acu-points through treatments helps to restore sufficient, continuous, and even flow of Qi (vital energy) and other nutrients throughout the body, restoring health and balance while relieving pain and other symptoms.  The aim of acupuncture is not only to eliminate or alleviate symptoms but to treat the underlying cause and improve the quality of life.

Herbal Medicine

Our pharmacy contains over one hundred herbal products in the form of loose herbs, tablets, liquids extracts, creams and patches.  Our herbs are safe, effective, and inexpensive.  Furthermore, at Kesselman Acupuncture we are committed to using the highest quality herbal products available, ensuring that the most exact and state-of-the-art methods of processing have been used.  The majority of our inventory is made here in the United States, and our entire selection is GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certified.

Acupressure Moxibustion Cupping

For those with a strong aversion to needles we offer effective treatment through the stimulation of acu-points with gentle, manual technique.

A warming method whereby the dried herb Artemisia Vulgaris (mugwort) is burned at acupuncture points. The heat invigorates the energy and blood in the channels and is therefore useful in the treatment of disease and maintenance of health.

Local congestion is relieved by applying a partial vacuum that is created in a cup either by heat or suction. Superb at drawing up the underlying tissues, cupping is commonly used to relieve pain, draw toxins out of the body, and remove blockages.

Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic Exercise is often a vital part of the healing process. Gabriel teaches Qigong and Chinese Internal Martial Arts.  These exercises strengthen the body, improve physiological function, promote proper posture, open the joints, stretch the muscles, as well as relax and focus the mind.  Most importantly, with regular practice these exercises gives patients the tools to take their health into their own hands.

Gabriel offers a Qigong & Tai Chi Chuan class Saturday mornings from 10-11 am at Pioneer Park in Mission Hills.  This class is free and open to all.  Please inquire for other weekly classes.  Private instruction is also available.
